Silver Sands is a Connecticut State Park and one of a few in my top 5 based on the variety it offers.
On this day, I was going to turn in my good camera into Milford Photo so found myself nearby on a beautiful last Friday of summer day.

With only cell phone in hand, I started down the sand bar towards Charles Island. I consistently enjoy walking along the rocks watching the water come together from either side with the island just out of reach.
I continued along the shore and walked along a rock pier on which I had never previously balanced. I noticed it made for a nice contrast to Charles Island with the many barnacles reflecting in the bright sun. On my way back I found a dog fish shark that encountered a misfortune as it must have gotten stuck between the rocks as the tide receded.

Along the boardwalk I found a huge bench on a newly repaired deck I knew from prior visits. The bench was so big I felt like a child looking upon the view waiting for my favorite ice cream cone. (Side note- if you come this far and enjoy ice cream, consider continuing down this path past Walnut Beach for a stop at Walnut Beach creamery!).

I spent quite a bit of time sitting on the bench and decided to walk back. I took a few more pictures with my cell (recalling camera is now at Milford photo) from the wonderful boardwalk.

Another side note, they have the nicest restrooms for a public beach with skylights and all! Even that’s worth a rest stop 🙂
Even though summer is at its end, there’s more to look forward to at Silver Sands as the next season approaches. Below is my memory blog of the sunset there in the winter when it’s at a better trajectory for a nice view.
Parking is plentiful and free for CT residents.
