After a rainstorm, I chase waterfalls. I most enjoy waterfalls that continues down a meandering river I can follow along a long trail. I started from the NY side of the park. After a rainfall the trails are more lush and green. I am invited to pause at every intentionally placed bench to appreciate itsContinue reading “MA: Mt Washington- Bash Bish Falls”

NY-Catskills-Haines Falls-Artists Rock
North-South Campground, Catskills has a lot to offer! A hike to Ashley Falls, Artist Rock and Newman’s ledge is about 4 miles round trip. There’s also a little jaunt to Sunset Rock I have yet to experience. Artists Rock was aptly named for painters. From artists rock stop go on to Newman’s ledge! NY- Catskills Region- North South Campground- Newman’s Ledge
I came to Tannersville for a bike tour which turned out to be a strenuous and serious bike race. NY: Catskills Region- Woodstock- Overlook Mountain (Hiking)
Not too far from CT, a couple of hour drive, is an achievable hike to the Overlook Mountain Fire Tower in Woodstock, NY. The 2.5 mile hike up offers the remnant of an old Stone Hotel around mile marker 1.9. It’s an easy hike up when you consider you are walking up a gravel road.Continue reading “NY: Catskills Region- Woodstock- Overlook Mountain (Hiking)”

Tropical Storm Elsa had just passed. For me that meant it was time to chase waterfalls! Fortunately this was a weekday and I wasContinue reading “NY: Catskills region- Kaaterskill Falls”

As I sought ocean front bike routes I learned of this refuge that is found at the end of a series of beaches. Not far from Purgatory Chasm, I rode down the road past the beaches and the line of cars trying to get into the lots. I reached the refuge to find a lovelyContinue reading “RI- Middletown-Sachuest Point National Preserve”
RI- Middletown- Purgatory Chasm
Short short hike! Big big rewards! Per “Only in your state”, glaciers formed Purgatory Chasm thousands of years ago and seawater has been eroding this crack in the cliffs ever since. This slice in the rocks is 120 feet long, 10 feet wide at the top, and over 150 feet deep. Each year the gapContinue reading “RI- Middletown- Purgatory Chasm”
CT: New Haven County- Lake Wintergreen
I played the odds with a 40 percent chance of rain. With the temperature at 75 I figured a short paddle or a hike could be achievable and even fun as I watched Zeus and his buddy swim for sticks! A relaxing walk through random droplets; A run into a perfectly placed teepee as itContinue reading “CT: New Haven County- Lake Wintergreen”
