CT: Middletown: Wadsworth State Park- Little Falls (Spring)

I had been to the Big Falls several times as they are right off one of the parking lots and a lovely scene. This time I decided to take the short and easy hike to Little Falls by following the orange trail to the yellow trail to the blue trail! I love to carefully climbContinue reading “CT: Middletown: Wadsworth State Park- Little Falls (Spring)”

A great choice for my first ride of 2022. 15 miles around the shoreline of beautiful Old Saybrook. Started at the Old Saybrook train station, went through the lovely town and rode along the shore. North Main Street to Main Street Left on North Cove Road Right onto Cromwell Place Continue onto Fenwick Street ContinueContinue reading “CT: Middlesex County- Old Saybrook- Biking”

CT: Middlesex County- Madison (Drive up sunset)

It’s been a while. At 55 in February it was time for a sunset with reflections. I have always enjoyed the drive up sunsets by the Madison Beach Hotel in Madison, CT You can also stop at their bar and overlook the sunset on the beach on their wraparound porch and simply get lost inContinue reading “CT: Middlesex County- Madison (Drive up sunset)”

CT: Middlesex County- Comstock Bridge

Gates to Heaven . . . Or so it appeared to me. This bridge was originally built in 1785. It’s one of three covered bridges that remain in Connecticut. Located in East Hampton, this one is my favorite. Beneath the bridge I swear Salmon River was smiling at the heavenly thought. Stopped at nearby CatoContinue reading “CT: Middlesex County- Comstock Bridge”

CT: Middlesex- Essex- Ct River Museum (Holiday Event)

When I wished Steve Cryan a happy holiday at his 28th year Holiday train show, he responded “it’s always happy here bringing smiles to all the children’s faces. “ A worthwhile visit to meet Steve (who is pictured as a child above one of the train sets). He added, he always liked those patriotic socks.Continue reading “CT: Middlesex- Essex- Ct River Museum (Holiday Event)”

CT: Middlesex County- Haddam- Gillette Castle (Holiday)

William Gillette was the actor who originally played Sherlock Holmes who built a home which aligned to his character in CT. During the holiday season they deck the halls of the castle! Gillette alsoContinue reading “CT: Middlesex County- Haddam- Gillette Castle (Holiday)”

CT: Middlesex County- Essex

Essex village may not be large but I found it filled with uniqueness. Its Main Street has unique finds from a store of only ducks, a chocolate house which announces when it has warm cookies and one of the oldest bars, the Griswold Inn, in the US serving since 1776. Also of interest is aContinue reading “CT: Middlesex County- Essex”

CT: Middlesex County- Mattabassett River Kayaking

A perfect place for a launch for me is a Dunkin Donuts so I can start the ride with a Hazelnut Latte. Below is the map of the route. The launch is at the Dunkin’ parking lot at 24 Shunpike Rd in Cromwell, CT. Which is point 1 on the map above. As a NYCContinue reading “CT: Middlesex County- Mattabassett River Kayaking”

CT: Middlesex County-Middletown-Wadsworth Falls State Park

Waterfalls and rainbows! That’s what I found on this recent winter day at Wadsworth Falls State Park. From the lot I could hear and see the rushing of the water over the falls more dramatically than I think I have ever seen yet here. I assumed it was due to the weather now thawing theContinue reading “CT: Middlesex County-Middletown-Wadsworth Falls State Park”
