Collis P Huntington State Park was my second kayak launch site. Bigger than the lake at Seth-Low Pierrepont but still narrow enough to feel safe and potentially see wildlife by the waters edge. Now that I am a bit more comfortable I decided to have a bit more fun! The beginning of the launch wasContinue reading “CT: Fairfield County- Redding- Collis P. CT: Fairfield County-Ridgefield-Seth Low Pierre Point State Park (Kayaking, Summer)
My first kayak launch was in July 2020. I chose a local venue in Ridgefield, CT with a small lake. It was a perfect first launch at Seth Low Pierrepont State park. Truth is I was nervous but I bought the kayak anyway because of the pandemic. I bought the kayak at REI. All theContinue reading “CT: Fairfield County-Ridgefield-Seth Low Pierre Point State Park (Kayaking, Summer)”

CT: Fairfield County-Monroe-Great Hollow Lake
An off season fun find! Great Hollow Lake is in Wolfe Park in Monroe CT which in season is for residents only. It also skirts the edge of the Housatonic Rail Trail. Every day can bring new opportunities and new challenges. Some better than others and all offering lessons learned. Inspiration: 20th Anniversary- Remembering 9/11 (Westport CT)
This terrorist attack was certainly one where everyone likely remembers where they were. I was facilitating a meeting at a Bank a few blocks away from the World Trade Center. CT: Fairfield County- Westport to Fairfield (Biking)
Twenty miles, four beaches, two wheels and one goose! So many gifts on one ride! It was unusually warm on January 2, 2021 so decided to go for my first 2021 bike ride. One of my favorites is about 20 miles with a stop at four beaches – 3 only for residents in season- andContinue reading “CT: Fairfield County- Westport to Fairfield (Biking)”
CT: Fairfield County-Old Greenwich, Tod’s Point (off-season)
Another great option off season is Tod’s Point in Old Greenwich. There is a lovely 2.25 mile loop paved walk around the point. The views ofContinue reading “CT: Fairfield County-Old Greenwich, Tod’s Point (off-season)”

CT: Fairfield County-Norwalk- Calf Pasture (Winter Solstice)
“Move to the left,” I screamed out to the ducks who were hanging out by the shore. Tonight is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, and also the evening when it’s said that we can view the planets Jupiter and Saturn to form the star of Bethlehem. Well that’s quite a goodContinue reading “CT: Fairfield County-Norwalk- Calf Pasture (Winter Solstice)”
