Due to covid the Westport ice rink at Long Shore wasn’t opened last year. I was so happy to find it was again this year. I may have been one of the first on the ice as the few of us there were captured by the local newspaper. One skater out on his own evenContinue reading “CT: Fairfield County- Westport PAL Ice Rink”

CT: Middlesex- Essex- Ct River Museum (Holiday Event)
When I wished Steve Cryan a happy holiday at his 28th year Holiday train show, he responded “it’s always happy here bringing smiles to all the children’s faces. “ A worthwhile visit to meet Steve (who is pictured as a child above one of the train sets). He added, he always liked those patriotic socks.Continue reading “CT: Middlesex- Essex- Ct River Museum (Holiday Event)”
Inspiration- Gratitude Journaling
At my stage in life there are great benefits and epiphanies I wish I could share with my younger self. The value of allowing yourself to pause but for a minute and see, appreciate and remember a lovely scene. The benefits go so far beyond the obvious and yet so hard to describe. My choosingContinue reading “Inspiration- Gratitude Journaling”
CT: Middlesex County- Haddam- Gillette Castle (Holiday)
William Gillette was the actor who originally played Sherlock Holmes who built a home which aligned to his character in CT. During the holiday season they deck the halls of the castle! I usually chase sunsets, rainbows and colorful scenes. I changed it up and chased the storm. It was cool to watch the clouds overcome the moon and the clear skies. The rain chased me from capturing the angry waves, birds skirting the white caps and the leaves forming mini tornadoes. There was a surprising numberContinue reading “CT- Fairfield County- Westport- Compo Beach”
CT: Hartford County- Southington- Cava Restaurant
Cava in Southington is definitely worth a special family night or date night. They offer elaborately dressed and themed rooms in which to dine from their Italian menu. The food was very well prepared. You are paying a bit of a premium but they have clearly gone to an effort to entertain you in addition.Continue reading “CT: Hartford County- Southington- Cava Restaurant”
CT: New Haven County- West Rock Ridge State Park
I love a loop. Went left to the Judges Cave side of the park. Blue trail, to teal/white and back on red. I found kids climbing around and through Judges Cave in which judges were hidden after issuing the King a death warrant in 1649 (pictured below upper right). This named Regicides (the act ofContinue reading “CT: New Haven County- West Rock Ridge State Park”
